Mardy Diary writes: What's that you say? The SNOS has had a face lift, it's now the New Super New Official Site, the NSNOS - the next generation in generic football club sites? Well, let's have a little look and... oh...

SNOS Fail

Well now - OK, that's just teething problems, we all have them. And I can see I can get around this by typing in the old 'premium tv' address - it's just a cache problem and the gtfc.co.uk address should resolve properly within the next few days. Let's be fair here. So, how does the new site... woah... it's... OK, stop fucking flashing windows at... wait... alright, calm the fuck down... what... right, have we settled down now? Good. OK - hmmm.

Well, I can see what they've tried to do - but let's not criticise the club for working with such an awful template forced upon them by the horrific PTV franchise. They can only work with what they've got. The important thing is that we can get to the information we need quickly. One good thing straight away is that they've actually put something on that bloody customer charter page. Sure, it's a complete fucking mess of a page - but it's a start. I'm a little worried that points one and three of the anti-discriminatory policy seem to be missing as if the club are picking and choosing which parts to adhere to. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and instead put that down to utter incompetence. I'm kind like that.

The first thing I want to check though is the pre-season fixtures - just to check I've got my dates correct - and woah...

GTFC v Milan Friendly

OK - why did nobody tell me we had a pre-season match against Milan? In February! Sure, we got stuffed 4-1, but that's no bad thing against AC or Inter. Whichever one it was. Anybody? Help me out here...

Teething issues though, come on, be kind. And while any professional company would ensure that they'd given the new site an in-house test drive, an amateur set-up just doesn't have those kind of resources, so has to make the site live and tweak as it goes. And - there's even a handy feedback form on each page, so fans can express any difficulties they're having. And as long as you make sure your commercial pages give a fully professional account of...

GTFC Commercial Pages

Oh for fuck's sake!

But aside from the HOME PAGE, the bad layout, the adverts, the malformed pages, the half written copy and the poor navigation, what have PTV ever done for us?

One feature that was really useful on the old site was the ability to look at the league table at any point in a season over the past ten years or more. Sadly, this has now disappeared and we only have tables for the past few seasons - in fact, all of the news from over a season ago has disappeared (which means some of those links on our contract page won't work). Whether these are to be added back at a later date or not, I'm not sure, but looking at the NSNOS now you could be forgiven for thinking we've always been a non-League outfit.

There is a history section on the new site of course, but this hastily cobbled together page seems not to mention much of our post-war history except to talk about when different stands were built - as if we are FUCKING BARROW or something. Excepting, of course, that even Barrow's website is better than that fucking PTV abomination.

Good God, I hope we have some success on the pitch this season.
