Miss Guest Diary writes: Well, it's been a long (but not very hot) summer of sport, hasn't it. What with all the Olympic and Paralympic heroes, Wiggy winning the Tour de France, Andy Murray's first grand slam win and not forgetting, of course, Town beating Scunny and Lincoln to retain the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. But today the summer truly ends, for it is the last day of the domestic cricket season. I'm hoping that Nottinghamshire can redeem what has turned out to be a fairly mediocre season by beating Warwickshire, the new county champions. I was contemplating a trip to Trent Bridge to cheer them on, but then I looked out of the window at the distinctly autumnal weather and thought better of it. Big coats and extra socks should be strictly reserved for watching Town games.

My colleagues at Cod Almighty Towers have put together one of their excellent previews for tomorrow's match against Kidderminster Harriers. And here's one from a Harriers fan site. This seems mostly to be a list of both their and our injury woes, but also advises that its big flag day at Aggborough. So if you're going tomorrow, take something to wave.

In the Telegraph it's Sam Hatton's turn to mutter some platitudes about "being professional" and not taking things for granted tomorrow. This sentiment is echoed by Shouty, who warns the players not to be complacent, saying: "We can't afford to go to Kidderminster with a mind-set of 'they're bottom of the league and it's going to be a walkover' because it won't be."

I think that's a warning which would serve the fans well too. It seems a constant tendency among Town fans - maybe all fans, but I wouldn't know as I only have experience of Town - to start counting those chickens far too early in a match. Also, equating small grounds, low attendance figures or current league position with the capability of the opposition means some fans get on the back of our players if Town aren't 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes. Maybe that's what makes a 'real' fan - being one-eyed about your team and everything it does, but it sometimes spoils the spectating experience for those of us with a more balanced, some would say pessimistic, viewpoint.

But I am still hoping that there'll be plenty of poultry for Town fans to enumerate at tomorrow's game, and maybe even some to wave in the air.
