Of fish and men

You haven't heard from me in a while, because we haven't heard much from you in a while, but what there is points in interesting directions. Let's get on with it.

Oozing confidence

Glad to see a mention for Dave Beasant (in the Diary, 18 January). I always thought he was a great keeper for the Mariners – oozed confidence! Mildenhall wasn't bad either!

What about best loans? I would put forward Andy Todd, brilliant defender and scored goals. Way too good for Championship level!

from John Chablo

Letters Ed responds: Loans opens up a very wide pool of names. As the usual Postbag experience is that a suggestion of more letters on a subject usually kills it dead, if I discourage letters on best loans, I can no doubt expect a heap of them.

These you have loved

Hi people at Cod Almighty,

I've taken some time out from irritating Brian Laws, being loathed by John Aldridge and generally disliked by my teammates at Tranmere to post some of Town's best goals from the last 30 years on you tube. You might like them and remember them fondly.

PS Getting a bit short of cash again, any chance of another whip round? £50k should do it.

from Ivano

Letters Ed responds: Due to the archaic equipment used by your letters editor, I've been unable to check this out, but it has been very well reviewed in the social media. Nor have I been able to verify if this is the real Ivano Bonetti, so I'll look out for the letter from an Italian lawyer.

A continuing obsession with Luton

Post-thump Buckle bleat on a penalty that was not given. Not much else really, but good to hear him moan.

from Janusz Przeniczny, GrimPol

Say hello to Peter Bore leaving

Hey there
Did you guys hear about Lincoln releasing SPBDid I miss it in the Diary?

from Stevie Hereford

Letters Ed responds: Straight Peter Bore has since signed for Gateshead. Neither piece of news has yet featured in the Diary. Most of our tag team of diarists, I suspect, interpret their brief as being to write a few entertaining, topical paragraphs about the Mariners without necessarily covering every story: less a report, more an editorial. It would be interesting to know how many CA readers do rely on the Diary as their primary source of Grimsby Town news.

Thanks to everyone who has written to CA. postbag@codalmighty.com is the address to use.
