More questions than answers

13 January 2013

In this letters page, your letters editor is asked questions to which he doesn't know the answer. If you do, please write to postbag@codalmighty.com.

Tactical nous

Is it just me, or will S and H ever show any tactical nous?

Take their insistence on playing Southwell as sub whilst other players on the bench (and the players he subs) are patently better - I could run around in circles for twenty minutes like a headless chicken quite as effectively as him. Look at the impact of Devitt in comparison in the Hereford game - running around and looking interested!!

Four points dropped in the last two home games due to ineffective use of players, subs and "tactics" - this could make all the difference at the end of the season, but of course S and H will always find someone else to blame rather than accepting responsibility.

And why the fuss about Pond? OK he's good, but the club must have been lucky to hang on to Miller with the amount of bench warming he's had to do this season - I'm sure the Pearson/Miller partnership will thrive given the chance.

Talking of tactical nous - why oh why was I'Anson released at the end of last season? He looked a really good prospect again in comparison with say er - Southwell?

Yours resignedly

Letters Ed responds: If anyone wants to make the case for Scott, Hurst and Southwell, here's the place.

Symbiotic connections from some secret Fenland source

Being new to your brilliant website (an ancient Mariner supporter though) I wonder if someone could explain (apologies if this is "yet again") how the dual management thingie works. Who does what? Who makes the decisions during the game? Who sends on the sub? Who orders the pies? ... Do they have a rota, home and away, do they have some sort of telepathic, symbiotic connection got from some secret Fenland source, the power of Bateman's XXX perhaps? I am not complaining, for once, just curious to know how it works.

Also I was wondering how Mr Niven is getting on. He seldom gets a mention. Having seen his performance this season at Kidderminster when he kicked the ball twice and made one brilliant tackle, unfortunately on one of ours, I ponder what his role is other than watch the ball sail backwards and forwards 10 feet above his head from his position somewhere in the middle of the park.

from Geoff Wentworth

Letters Ed responds: I'm sure Scott and Hurst could answer both questions, but on the off-chance that reading the Cod Almighty letters page is not their first priority of a fortnight, if anyone else can help, please do.

They rebuild a club from scratch, then sign Peter Sweeney

Happy New Year to all at CA towers,

I see that Peter 'Penis' Sweeney has just found a new home at AFC Wimbledon, I hope they don't share the same fate as us after signing him.

For Town, I think its going to be a tight run thing for the rest of the season, but as long as they can dig out results and points, I think they have a decent chance. Getting Hannah back might help that, and the Devitt loan looks to be very good, once he gets match fit.

Keep up the good work, etc, etc, and thanks for adding to the enjoyment of my morning cup of tea at work for the last 10 plus years.

Bugged

Nowthen guys and gals, I'm lovin the Cod Almighty website that I only found this week. Love the sarcasm and the piss takes especially.

One bug tho, because you get your news stuff from the Grimsby Telegraph it is always a day out of date. Try the official site mateys.

UTM

from Mossey

Letters Ed responds: Thanks for the kind words. Much of our sarcasm and pisstakes are of course inspired by the (N)SNOS, but we would not want to discourage anyone from using it as a primary source of GTFC news, so long as they don't use it to revise for their English, or IT, GCSE.

It's a rap

As I can't get to the match this weekend, I've been playing with this: www.gizoogle.net. Livens up Cod Almighty a treat, although some of the posts on the fishy seem exactly the same as normal, innit?

Enjoy your weekend!

from David Miller

Letters Ed responds: That's actually how we all talk at CA Towers. We use elgoozig.ten to turn it into the pages you read.
