Miss Guest Diary writes: Anyone who follows Cod Almighty on Twitter will know about the campaigns last week to get to the bottom of the controversial topics of goal celebration music and why those banned for the trouble at Burton a few years ago have been asked to buy season tickets if they want to attend matches at Blundell Park. When I say campaigns, I really mean a series of tweets to the club and the local paper expressing displeasure. Not that I have been personally involved: my contribution has been restricted to tutting and reading out the tweets to my other half in an exasperated voice.

Since retiring, my capacity for getting outraged at the actions of others has been curtailed by a severe case of CBA. Also, it seems, my capacity for reading the small print on forms. Despite over 30 years as a paper-shuffling civil servant, I failed to notice the £5 charge for using a credit card to renew my season ticket until after I had filled out the application form. Of course, I couldn't be bothered to do another form, so let that one slide. But I also failed to notice any warning that, despite applying by post, I would have to make the 90 mile round-trip to Blundell Park to collect the season ticket as the club will no longer post them out. The form did contain that warning, didn't it?

Anyway, back to the campaigns. Also on the case was blogger Too Good to Go Down, who happily reports that the club has bowed to pressure and decided not to play goal celebration music for the time being. I understand that the club are "open to positive suggestions for alternative ideas to enhance the celebration for the benefit of the players." How about the entire board of directors forming a human pyramid on the half-way line when Town score? Wouldn't you vote for that?

Apparently, not content with the three central midfielders Town already have, the management are in talks with Patrick McLaughlin, who was released by York City at the end of last season. I'd be happier to hear they were looking at some central defenders, given that Town still only have one of those, and the first pre-season game is less than three weeks away.

Finally, a couple of Town-related events for your diary: a golf day on 12 July organised by the club to raise funds for the youth team, and another evening with Alan Buckley on 18 October organised by the Mariners Trust to coincide with the launch of his book. Enjoy!
