I love Alex Rodman
17 July 2013
London Diary writes: Yet another lovely day here in London town. One wonders when this will all end. Also, when will this winning streak ever end? Last night we managed a 3-0 win against local neighbours Brigg Town. Ross Hannah scored two of the goals, which is good – it'd be nice to see Hannah back in the form he was in before Christmas when he scored a million goals. Reports from various sources claim that Rodman had a good run-out, too, with some nice assists. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I like Rodman. Hearn scored the third goal, but there were still a minority on Twitter moaning that Town didn't smash 37 past the Zebras. Are you not entertained? Are you NOT entertained?
We've scored 10 goals in three games, kept a clean sheet for 270 minutes, players are getting fitter, we've played a number of formations (of which only 4-4-2 really works at the moment), we've seen some new players, some yoof players, some hoof players, we're testing out new defenders, we've got Alex Rodman, did I mention I like him? We're having fun guys, let's have fun. We have Scunthorpe on Saturday followed by Bradford and Hull coming up, so they should be good tests of what's working on the pitch. Let's moan after that. Let's hope the weather's a bit cooler too.
With regards to the situation in defence, Rob Scott has said that Saturday's game against Scunthorpe will be Paul Bignot's chance to show the joint managers what he's got, and that they'll make a decision on Bignot and Doig after that game. Best of luck to them both. Also, how do you pronounce Bignot? Is it Big-knot? Or is it French sounding? Like Thomas Pinault? Obviously not like Pinault, but, say, like Binóit?! Oh whatever. Answers on a poscard or something.
Also, great news for Austin Mitchell and Martin Vickers. The club has an exclusive offer on its site where MPs can claim £10 off the cost of a home shirt. I think it's about time we gave more discounts for MPs, what with their pay going up and everything. Poor sods. YOU'LL NEVER BE A REAL MP FENTY AND YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD.
Anyway, I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm best man at a wedding on Saturday and I have a speech to write. Who organises a wedding on the third day of the second Ashes test match? Ridiculous. I bet Alex Rodman wouldn't. Ciao for now.
