Doig. Doig. Doig. Doig. Doig. Doig.
14 August 2013
London Diary here, but what's going on? We've only gone and won a competitive game of football and it's not even September yet. Now, you know that we at CA Towers are always full of optimism, where our glass is always full. But even we are getting tingly feelings in our stomachs. WE CAME FROM BEHIND TOO.
So, what happened? Well, we turned up at Gateshead to play at the most reliable stadium in the country. Weirdly, they had some issues with their power and the floodlights kept going out. That did not stop the mighty Mariners. Blitz spirit kept us going and we fought out a beauty of a 2-1 win over our northern-northern neighbours.
We started off in the usual 4-3-3 formation and when I read the starting line-up and saw the bench it was the first time in a long time where I thought: "Well, these are bloody good players." Proper sexy stuff. Seemingly it was a game of two halves where we played properly in the second and reports suggest that John-Lewis was running the shop. Doig started instead of big old Clayton and had Brodie in his pocket for the whole game. You might want to check that pocket to see if anything's missing. Yes, that's right, I'm stereotyping. Anyway, a lot of positives. John-Lewis is good. Doig is good. Colbeck is good. Hearn scored, which is good. We scored two headers. Brodie doesn't play for Grimsby. Get the bucks fizz out, we're sixth in the league.
