Just another Wednesday in Grimsby

9 October 2013

Well, what a night. Sadly, your London Diary couldn't make last night's game as work in Lincoln beckoned, but having met up with 'the lads' after the game in a watering hole in Grimsby, it seemed that, although we did a good job, the better team who are top of the table won. I bet Ian Miller, who isn't good enough to get in our squad, had a spring in his step this morning, the good-looking cheeky scamp. A goal in the 68th minute secured Cambridge's 14th unbeaten game this year. They haven't yet lost a game this season. Ridiculous.

The Shop sadly missed a penalty soon after Cunnington's goal. So, we lost to the best team in the league, but things are looking good. I think things are looking good. Oh, and it was a good save. Leave Lenny alone.

Slightly overshadowing Town's defeat last night (and the fans' forum for that matter), was the sighting at Blundell Park of comedian/clown/actor Sacha Baron Cohen. Now, when I met 'the lads' in the pub last night (I say 'lads'; two of them have mortgages and one is going through a divorce, but you know what I mean), they didn’t really talk about the game. They only spoke about SBC being at BP. They didn’t seem to know why he was there, dressed up in full Town regalia. Maybe this is it? This is our moment? Borat is our knight in shining armour who has come to take over the club and lead us to Champions League football?

Oh, wait – this article written in August cites a new film as being the reason why the Hollywood actor was in Grimsby (Cleethorpes). Bugger. Still, nice to have a bit of glamour at Blundell Park innit. Kudos to whichever diary tweeted this last night. Shorter diary than normal today – I’m off to see if Sacha is still in town as I want a part in a film. SEE YA BABES.
