Everyone says you're so fragile

14 March 2014

Mardy Diary writes: Well, folks, it's going to be short and sweet from me today. Well, short at least – I can make no further promises. I'm about to change jobs so I'm spending my last day eating and waiting to go down the pub. Priorities, y'see – I knew you'd understand.

Life for the Mariners ain't too great at the moment with the early-season form fading to slack. That said, aside from November, our form isn't currently any worse than in any other month this year and isn't any worse than that of Cambridge (I did some stats, y'see, and checked this out). Whether that's a good thing or not is open to debate, and it doesn't solve the problem of winning our games in hand with a seemingly underconfident team.

Another team with plenty of games in hand is Braintree, who stuffed this weekend's visitors Wrexham 3-0 on Tuesday, and then still had the energy to win 2-0 away at Forest Green last night. That puts them two points behind Town with a game in hand and could well see them slip into the play-offs at the end of the season. They're certainly the form team of the moment, but then we all know how quickly that can change. Strange that they don't seem to be suffering from playing too many games...

Wrexham, then, will be looking to recover tomorrow from that loss under caretaker boss Billy Barr. I like the bit at the bottom of this article though, where he's asked about beating Town: "Are they unbeatable? No." Bit of a daft question, that, isn't it? I think the eight defeats in the league this season negate the need to ask it, really.

Anyway, that is all from me. Have a good weekend. And bloody hell Town, stop being rubbish, eh?
