Tungsten carbide drill?!
26 November 2014
Happy Wednesday to each and every one of you on this wonderful autumnal day. London Diary here again and I LOVE BEING A GRIMSBY TOWN FAN, this week. Having been at the game on Saturday, it was hard to think that we would take a convincing win against the team below us, but by 'eck, pass me hat, I'll start munching on it now, and get me words ready for dessert. Apparently we 'tonked' poor Woking last night to remain pretty much top of the league, or 'second' as some purists are calling it.
There were a few smug faces at CA Towers this morning as we all filed in just before the weekly fire alarm testing. The manager, our faithful Hurtststs, used a formation known in the industry as a "4-4-2" and apparently it worked. Now, it'd be easy for me, a lay person, a mere man of mirth, to say I told you so. And I'm not going to, as he is the manager, and he mostly knows what's best. He can't do my job, and I most certainly can't do his. So keep it up young PH, but maybe keep with the 4-4-2?
What I will argue with, though, is our managersrsrsrs' statement after the game, claiming that last night "wasn't particularly better than Saturday". Now, statistically speaking, it was. We won, and scored three goals in doing so. I didn't see last night's game, but I was there on Saturday and those first 45 minutes were hideous: possibly the worst football since that horrific night at Braintree. Art is subjective, though. What one man loves, another does not. Is what we do art? I don't know, either way, let's move on. Tap shoes for Telford, let's look pretty, don't worry about scoring.
Young tall Pell has been recalled by proper Wimbledon, so I doubt we'll see him again. Yet another loanee to add to the list of 93,725 temporary players to make the short pilgrimage to Cleethorpes in Grimsby, but thanks for your work Harry, you're a nice lad.
I'm sure there will be a match report of sorts, but our kid sent me a 10p review (he's still on PAYG) which read: "Magnay was bloody wonderful, I want to keep him." Make of that what you will, but I like him too. Oh, and Aswad didn't play and we were quite solid at the back. Coincidence? I don't know. Let's hope he ups his game while trying to get fit. I'm off to shoot some breeze. UTM!
