Cod Almighty | Diary
You name it, we’ll pluralise it
2 July 2015
Muggy Thursdays to each and everyone of you! Your London Diary here today on a monumental second anniversary of 'writing' this 'stuff'. Thanks so much to everyone for sending the cards and the flowers to CA Towers. It's been a great day. Anyway, today isn't about me: it's about our new signing who, luckily for me, was announced after yesterday's diary was published! Hurrah! I'm sick of scraping that barrel. My hands are bleeding.
First the issue with the new chap's name. Both his first name and second name take getting a bit of used to.
1. Pádraig: I'm guessing "Pad-raig" but say it quickly ("PADRAG") then say it with an Irish Lilt (which is like a Tango, but with potatoes). That accent over the 'a' is going to give everyone the heebeegeebees, but I reckon he'll be commonly known as Paddy. Ten quid in the Operation Promotion pot if I'm wrong.
2. Amond: I'm going with "Ah-mond" but it could easily be "Ay-mond". Again, £10 in the pot if "Amonds" is spotted by either the club, the trust or the Telewag. Eyes peeled, plural spotters.
Actually, just realised you can watch an interview with the new lad, and what the 'eck? Mariners Player in HD! What does that mean? Well, it means we can see the follicles of the newly groomed players in high definition. If only we had HD when Alex Rodman was at the club, I'd have watched those videos all day and never left the house
I'd have thought we would also have decent sound to accompany the HD picture quality: alas not. I want to hear in crystal quality Dale asking Marcus Marshall: "So what are you like as a player?" I suggest we all get that as our message ringtone. Imagine that. HE PLAYED FOR US TWO YEARS AGO DALE, AND PLAYED AGAINST US TWICE LAST SEASON MATE. BLOODY NORA PAL. Anyway, I couldn't get what the lad's name is. Next time. Is he any good? You tell us.
Peg Leg(end) Mariner's photo has been doing the rounds on Twitter, and again it's a lovely bit of Mariners Family news (annoyingly stolen by those testosterone-fuelled Twitter accounts). Well done to @stoomo, a fine example of Grimsby mentality.
Anyway, that's enough for me. It's just started pouring it down in that there/here London and I've got to go get my hair cut. I'm off for a Paddy Armonds. UTM!
