Vindicated
I did say "It's not that bad is it?"
Five points off the top, one loss in 17 or so. A good goal difference, a striker who will surely get 20+ goals, a decent cup game on the TV with the chance of a result and a better draw next round.
There's worse positions to be in.

Moonlight becomes you
Yesterday (Sunday 22 November 2015) I was pottering around the garden tidying up after the storms we've just had when I noticed the moon in the autumnal sky. For some reason this brought back memories of my Dining Out Night from the RAF back in 1996. Ian St John was the guest speaker, the ex-Liverpool player and pundit.
He was obviously told I was a Town supporter because he came out with the old joke about when Bill Shankly was our manager. At half-time the referee asked for the floodlights to be put on. Bill Shankly, mean as old boots and knowing we had little money, pointed to the moon and asked the referee if he could see it. The referee replied he could, so Bill asked how far he wanted to see?
Just thought I'd share that old chestnut of a joke. Strange how certain things bring back odd memories at weird times.

A Rover, or a DeLorean?
Further to Geoff Lamp's letter questioning the truthfulness of Lloyd Griffith, how did he travel to Old Trafford in 1992 in a Rover 75, seven years before they went on sale?
I too demand answers! I suspect time travel, but fail to understand why he never warned us about ITV Digital.

Manchester physios reunited
Dear CA,
I just read Sam Rhoades' postbag letter. Well, well... then there were two.
I'm a 50+ years Mariners' supporter also working as a physio in Greater Manchester non-league football, where I'm sports therapist with FC United's erstwhile local rivals, Ashton Utd of the Northern Premier League. We never let on to each other!
In my journeymanning around non-league footy here I did meet an ex-Town player when I was with Salford City before they were famous: Chris Thompson, from the Lenny Lawrence era.
Yours sincerely,
from Derek Turner
