Cod Almighty | Diary
On a spectrum where ten is "the first draft of history" and one is "tomorrow's chip wrapping", the Lincolnshire Echo scores 1.5
29 December 2015
Due to a cock-up on in Cod Almighty's logistical planning department (Yes we do have one. We treat it with the same seriousness as the Conservative government treats flood defences for the north of England), you were almost without a diary today.
Having said that, it will be hard to match the entertainment value of this gem from the Lincolnshire Echo. Middle-Aged Diary won't use the term 'one-eyed' in case anyone thinks I'm stooping to incest slurs. Also because whatever number of eyes the Echo's man at Blundell Park may have, he seems to have directed them towards a distorted mirror for the duration of yesterday's 2-0 victory for Town against Lincoln.
For the record, John Pakey did get one thing right. Omar Bogle and Pádraig Amond were exceptional together. Apart from that, James McKeown was called into serious action only twice and only some nervy finishing and Paul Farman in the Lincoln goal prevented a rout. And that was despite a few Town players not being at their best.
History they say is written by the winners. But sometimes the losers are voluble enough to impose their own version of the truth, at least locally. If we are still talking about this game in a year, I bet there'll be Lincoln fans swearing blind it was still 0-0 and Town were on the ropes before Luke Waterfall was sent off.
