Trentside Diary writes: Last Friday, Domestic Diary might have been a little concerned that we were all so wrapped up in a post-Chelsea daydream that we had forgotten there was a league match coming up on Saturday. With players being knackered, a win or even a draw would be a significant achievement.

That was Friday. We were all still knackered. Perhaps not quite as much as those poor souls who broke down on the way home from that there London, but still struggling to summon much energy. Much coffee was consumed at work on Thursday and Friday. Some were still venturing that Mr Jolley had got his tactics wrong, because you know, why would you try to play football. But I’m all for a team trying to keep some consistency in what they do week in week out on the pitch. And at least we demonstrated a bit of style.

I can only think that Town must have shelled out for an ultra-luxurious coach with reclining chairs and lullabies because at Exeter on Saturday the players weren’t showing any signs of a hangover from Wednesday night. There was some impressive motivation in play, bouncing back in such style. And a hardy band of 261 Town fans made their way to Exeter. It was worth it. To win so convincingly against the league leaders who hadn’t yet lost this season was a bit special. It’s great to have a squad who can be swapped around to cover two such intense games. Well done to those players, well done to those fans.

Quest TV made the mighty Mariners their team of the week, meaning their pundits had to wear a Town badge. Strange thing to do but it was nice to see the Lincoln manager sitting there.

We’re definitely seeing something special this season and I think many of us are falling in love with this squad. The management team are the biggest positive in attracting players to the club, whether it’s our loanees from Sunderland or the likes of Hanson or Öhman. If you want to have a moan about Jolley and Limbrick, do it in the pub with your mates, not on social media. Yes, we’re all experts and entitled to our opinion but let’s be the best 12th man that we can. #UTM
