Peter, you've lost the news
14 October 2019
Two defeats. Misery sets in and the moaners are out in full force. Hands up, I didn’t go to Stevenage on Saturday and it sounded a frustrating affair but there really are some miserable buggers in the Town end and on social media. Let's have a look at some of the things fans are saying.
As a paying customer I’ve got every right to tell them they don’t know what they’re doing. I’ve never thought of myself as a "customer" of Town. If I was a customer I would have looked elsewhere long ago, either in 2010 when we dropped out of the league, or when I moved away from the area. I might take my car to a different garage or do my shopping in a different supermarket, but I still support Town. Let me quote Elton John from this weekend. "You can’t shake your team: it’s in your blood and your bones, even when they’re completely shit."
The crowd make no difference whatsoever. If you think that, then rather than getting at the players, just don’t go. Or looking at it another way, why waste your breath? If you can’t say something nice, etc.
Why don’t they get called in for extra training? Straight from the Russell Slade book of training tips. Bet you would like them kept out of the dressing room at half time as well? I think have a day off, reflect and clear your heads, and then get back. It makes more sense.
They get paid no matter what – as do most people unless they are on a zero hours contract. If you think the players don’t want to win, I really don’t know why you bother going.
Too inconsistent but definitely improved on last season. Agreed, it’s not as rapid as we would like but it is definitely an improvement.
Part of the manager’s learning curve, he’ll get there/Too early to go into panic mode... Absolutely.
Questions about today’s result are to be expected. Yes, they are, and if there are 700 or 7,000 Town fans at a match, many of them will be 'experts' at what needs to happen. If it was that easy we would all have been on the shortlist last time Town were without a manager and we would all think the same players were decent or poor. And we really don’t.
Getting rid of another manager is not the answer. Yes, we are inconsistent. Yes, I would like us to leave someone up when the opposition get a corner, etc etc.
We are building our Football League status with very little money and a young manager learning his trade. Moaning at the players gets us nowhere. Moan to your mates and then back the manager and the team. We go again! UTM.
