How's that "to do" list going?

15 April 2021

Trentside Diary writes: Are you like me? Are you a keeper of lists? Do you need a "To Do" list to function as a half competent human being? Nothing sophisticated on scheduling software with reminders popping up just when you don't need them, just an ongoing note of things I should / must do in the next few days or weeks or eventually. Mine is fairly diverse, ranging from book Disley in at the vets to email the builder. The last year has seen it grow increasingly obscure and become more of a wish list with little of normal life going on and very little ticked off. It's been a different story this week though.

Ironing:
Why bother?

Painting:
See above.

Go to the coast and walk on a beach:
Hell yes, bloody tick!

Have a coffee with a friend:
Tick!

Sit outside with friends at a place that sells alcohol, with a big, silly grin on my face:
Tick! Tick! And that was before any imbibing.

Read through the document sent to Grimsby Town shareholders and vote on the motions:
I have to be honest I haven't done this yet. I was planning to read through it before I voted so I'm setting aside time over the weekend.

Who am I kidding? If I haven't managed to do it by Sunday the vote will be going in the post on Monday.

I've reached the point where I don't subscribe to the "Someone who takes us over might be worse than Fenty" mantra. Yes, there are those who are only interested in what the club can do for them, but Fenty, Holloway and Alex May fall firmly into that category. I would happily have taken a punt on a change of ownership with "It can't really be much worse than this drawn out demise." You can throw as many examples of clubs that have gone bust at me and I would still settle on, if the fans can't own us, "anyone who was basically honest" was worth a go. We're incredibly lucky that we seem to have fallen on our feet with what 1878 Partners Limited are offering so they will obviously get my tick.

Go to Blundell Park:
Still to be done. I can't remember when I last went this long without setting foot in Blundell Park. I know the club shop is open but I'm hanging on to spend my money once the takeover is done. It will be amazing to step over that threshold knowing that we might be going down but change is afoot and the good times will come.

By the way I still can't believe I have two ginger pets and neither of them are Disley. One of the great mysteries of life.

UTM! Fenty Out!
