Postbag: pining for the fjords
10 November 2008
You write and send it, we'll publish it, and others will read it...Apart from the usual subjects, why not send us a few sentences on your favourite moment involving your favourite player, no matter how long ago. Wouldn't it be good to remind us of a time when following Town was a pleasure?Email postbag@codalmighty.com or use the feedback form to chip in your twopenn'orth to the postbag.
Another entry for the Grimmo Dictionary
Love your Cod Almighty website - and I was glad to see 'Taffled' in your Grimmo dictionary as I used it whilst living 'down south' and was ridiculed for it! Anyway, have you heard the expression 'rawing' - meaning generally having a loud, bad tempered hissy fit, or crying in a bad tempered way. I'm not sure how it should be spelt, or if it's a local take on 'roaring', but I and my daughter use it to insinuate that the person 'rawing' is being very silly and should shut up. (I now live in Dundee and she lives in Sheffield, but we were both born and raised in Grimsby).
Regards
from Jeannie Cooper
Letters Ed responds: Consider yourself letter of the week!
A message from the Department of Health
Here's another rant for your letters page. How come everyone who walks down top town sporting an opened tin of booze doesn't seem to get a second look. However walk down the same main drag smoking a cigarette and you get the look of death as if you have crawled from under a stone.
from Ken Coulbeck Jnr
Letters Ed responds: Don't think that look of death is the Grim Reaper, do you?
Junk mail
I was quite excited to receive a letter with the GTFC postmark the other day, as usually the only things they send in the post are the season ticket forms and the Grand National sweepstake tickets. However, on opening the letter I noticed immediately that it was printed in the Comic Sans typeface and threw it in the bin without reading it, as it was clearly meant for a six year old child and addressed to me by mistake.
You don't think it was anything important, do you?
from Jo Tilley
Letters Ed responds: A playing contract, maybe?
Red socks
Having followed town for nearly 40 years I am a big believer in the RED SOCKS. Lets get them back. The sooner the better. I want RED SOCKS in the Football League, not in the Blue Square. They distinguish us from other teams in Black and White and there is only one G.T.F.C. John, a bold move in getting Mike Newell, make another bold move and bring back the RED SOCKS.
from Civvy
Letters Ed responds: I too think that the red socks add something more historical to the kit, and apart from that it was a winning kit, something that is alien to Town at the moment. John Montford
So that's postbag@codalmighty.com or the feedback form get cracking then, folks!
