If only our players were as prolific as our chair

18 November 2021

If you're looking for a podcast, Glass Half Full Diary recommends the East Marshian podcast featuring Jason Stockwood (I found it on Spotify). If you're looking for a newspaper article on the value of and values in football, there's Jason's latest Guardian article, recommended in yesterday's diary. And if the reason you're looking for things to listen to because you are out of work or disillusioned or dissatisfied with work, and maybe fancy a career change?

Well, our chair posted an unmissable message on the official website yesterday evening with the heading ''Employability and skills opportunities beyond the football club." It takes topics from the podcast in particular and backs them up with actual initiatives and real support offered. Really encouraging and heart-warming stuff, and hopefully could change lives of Town fans locally and their friends and families too.

Jason Stockwood is appearing live from Blundell Park on Radio Humberside's Sportstalk pre-game tomorrow circa 6.45pm. Fair to say Jason has had a pretty prolific and positive week.

Which reminds me, there's a Mariners' game tomorrow, and on TV no less. Our record on TV this season? Played one, won one, scored five and none conceded. However, Town have scored just three goals in the five matches since that televised cup tie: a John-Lewis penalty, some McAtee injury time magic and Harry Clifton's Aldershot header.

Suddenly we've gone from pretty much every outfield player scoring to a lack of shots at goal. So, players: shoot! Fans: shout "shoot!" at the players. Simple: if we shoot, we might score, and if we score at home this season, then we win (FACT!). Let's hope the GTFC players can be as prolific on Friday as the Chair this week.

Paul Hurst has admitted to the media that there is a mystery hamstring injury in the camp, so team selection options are further reduced for tomorrow's team to face Southend. Tomorrow's visitors were relegated with us, have changed manager mid-season and currently sit 20th in the table. There'll be a rough guide to them on here tonight or tomorrow morning.
