Post-Season Blues

14 July 2022

Mr Target Demographic Writes: For the first time since the season ended, I found myself missing league-based football. I mean just everything that the club has done since the season closed out has only made me more excited for the return of the Black and White Army. Tie this in with a good transfer rumour and I feel like a kid at Christmas, except it's ridiculously hot outside. I'm used to the sea breeze skimming off the waves to make me shiver on a Tuesday night in the middle of November – none of this sweating malarky!

The most recent rumour is that Kieran Green from Halifax is signing for GTFC. This signing just makes sense and I don't think anyone could argue otherwise. With Green holding the highest average rating at CDM in the Conference, he must have some competence in the position. However, Giles Coke also made the Top 10 in this list, only being 0.7 behind Green and I really wouldn't have thought Coke was one of the best midfielders in the division when I watched him play. Another thing the graph tells is that Green only played just shy of 2000 minutes last season – breaking that down it's about 22 games. I suppose this could be seen in both a positive and a negative light. On the one hand he could be fresher at the beginning of the season, but this lack of games could have Green lacking sharpness, which can be integral to a central-midfielder who likes to break up play.

I've just written a whole paragraph about a player we haven't even officially announced…if it doesn't happen now, I'm going to look a fool.

Hopefully more official news should follow later today, but who has time to wait when I can just be the unofficial voice for all things GTFC.
