Everything's Coming Up Milhouse
11 August 2022
Mr Target Demographic Diary writes: It would currently appear to all be coming up Town's way.
With the League Cup drawing us against Nottingham Forest at Blundell Park there is even more to be excited about. Granted Forest won't play any of their first team but still the fixture is definitely one I'll be looking to return for.
I'm excited that Aribim Pepple is here and have no doubt he'll have an impact from what people have said about his movement and fiery pace. He could be just what Town need to finally put away all those chances we’ve been creating. However, is it just me that it feels a bit lucky? If John McAtee hadn't joined Luton would we still be scrambling for a striker? be.
It still perplexes me that we didn’t put up more of a fight for Manny Dieseruvwe considering he was out of contract and surely would have preferred to play in the Football League rather than the Conference. Perhaps Halifax offered him better terms than we did which is a shame but that’s the world of football I suppose. I wish him all the best but feel he could really have pushed on for us this season.
I’m back from my travels on Tuesday next week which thankfully means I will get to see Town in action before I leave for university. I'm still unsure where that will be but I get my results a week today so fingers crossed. It could be the beginnings of an exciting season but we shouldn't panic if we aren't where we want to be after 10 games. A lot of our players had little or no break so there will be injuries that hinder us, and there are a few new additions who will need a period to gel. I can see us doing something similar to last season where in the second half of the season we go on a really long winning streak.
I'd definitely like to see Stephen Wearne starting on Saturday. He adds a lot of quality and driving force to the team that perhaps we lacked at the start of the season. However, I have no idea of his fitness levels so I'll keep my faith in Paul Hurst.
To finish, do people know the idioms "getting on like a house on fire" or "Everything is coming up Milhouse"? I've used both phrases recently and gotten blank stares back. I just need to know if I'm going crazy or not.
