Let’s slough off the season so far and start again!

That feels better doesn't it? If we ever doubted it, we have a team of footballers who can do a decent job for us. I'm hoping that Saturday marks the tide turning in our favour. We'll be able to judge over the next few weeks but hopefully Ben, Shaun and the players will take a smidgen of confidence from that result and begin to build on it. I for one watched the highlights programme for the first time in ages. Yes a few nervy moments but mainly us dominating the game and for once it going our way. It made for a pleasant hour in a Cleethorpes hostelry after the game. Nice one.
I also enjoyed Debbie's programme notes. It was good to hear that Ben Davies and Shaun Pearson responded "without hesitation that it would be an honour" when asked to take charge in the interim before a new manger is appointed. Definitely two people we are lucky to have at the club. They would have worked closely with Paul and Chris and it must take some processing when things change so quickly. Thanks chaps. Debbie also commented on the one manager she has worked with in her time as chief executive, "Throughout this period, I've had the privilege of collaborating with one manager, a decent and nice person, Paul Hurst". Well said!
We have our FA Cup replay today. It would be nice to see Slough Town dispatched with confidence so that we can move on. There's always the potential for a banana skin, of course, and a whole load of issues around us not getting through at the first attempt but one of the main ones must be the plastic pitch. I remember going down to Loftus Road in the early 80s for a cup game against QPR. We lost but to be fair we stood no chance, we never got to grips with the bounce of the ball. It must give a heck of a home advantage to any team that installs one but we should have still had the beating of a team that's flirting with the relegation zone two leagues below.
The magic of the cup you say? Let's just get the job done and start a bit of an unbeaten run! UTM!
