Cod Almighty | Diary
Catching up on our correspondence
29 April 2014
We are in the phoney war, a mini-hiatus before the play-off semi-final which prefigures the major hiatus of the close season. As this is a time when Cod Almighty traditionally leans heavily on your correspondence, it is high time we took a look at what you have been telling us.
The tone is one of concern for our continuing health. Steve O'Hare asks in particular: "So has the Postbag now bitten the dust? Is this anything to do with Royal Mail privatisation or did tax-dodging Amazon steal it and stuff it behind the cistern in the staff bogs? I can't believe the good citizens of Grimmo have nothing to say."
There is good news (or at least news) on that front. We aim to run up a special letters page tomorrow. It will feature those letters that have fallen into the void since December, but which remain relevant.
You may care to write this afternoon. The headline in today's Telegraph quotes Paul Hurst as claiming that the Mariners are "stronger than last year", an assertion which demands to have a 'Discuss' placed after it to turn it into an essay question. As David Elsey notes, Diary writers rarely seem to attend Town games these days (Miss Guest Diary and Deviant Diary are the honourable exceptions) so it is hardly a topic you would expect Middle-Aged Diary to tackle. We look forward to receiving your thoughts, which will of course be negated or reinforced 24 hours after they see the light of day in the first leg of the semi-final.
Until then, you may care to try your hand at our play-off themed quiz.
