Youth: lost, long lost or just missing
29 September 2012
Some early responses to our interview with Nick Hegarty and our (lack of) coverage of the youth team are under the spotlight in your most recent letters.

More please I
Already looking forward to part two of the Nick Hegarty interview.
More articles like this please. Though none on Tony Crane or Des Hamilton, of course.

Compare and contrast
It was interesting to read Nick Hegarty's very positive impression of Alan Buckley, especially during what was his least successful spell (although compared with what came after, even that period now seems relatively good.)
As Hegarty admits, his relentless approach was one that "broke" some young players. By coincidence, I've just finished reading Chris Hargreaves's autobiography, Where's your caravan? Hargreaves blames that same approach for wrecking his confidence, although reading between the lines, it feels as though Hargreaves might not have had the self-discipline, at the time, to exploit his full potential.
As footballers' memoirs go, though, Chris Hargreaves's is a good one. Its true the endless recounting of practical jokes and scrapes palls pretty quickly, but it paints an honest picture of the life of a journeyman player, and the portraits of Town personalities are vivid- not just Buckley but also Arthur Mann and players like Mark Lever and Paul Reece.

More please II
Why do you never give any coverage to our youth team? Just because they don't get a mention on the Telegraph web-site doesn't mean they don't exist. You need to get on the official Town site more to get a grip on what is happening at Town.

Letters Ed responds: Thanks for the feedback Steve. We'll be glad to hear from anyone who can give us an insight into how the youth team is shaping up this season, so we can add to, rather than simply copy, the official site's coverage.
Is that big traffic on your website ...?
Dear Sir
Your website is very nice, if you are interested in link exchange with high quality [link deleted], website with big traffic and authority, please let me know.
Best regards

Letters Ed responds: We don't usually bother you with our spam and commercial proposals, but given one as dripping with latent double entendres as this, we can't resist.
Thanks to Luke, Bill and Steve for their letters. To get in on the act, email postbag@codalmighty.com.
